My name is Matthew and I am in the 7th grade this year. I have a brother and a baby sister and I really enjoy being with them and my Mom. Little brothers and sisters can be kind of a pain sometimes but mostly we get along well and have a lot of fun together.
I have loved to draw and paint since I was really small. Basically since I could hold a pencil. When I was 7 years old my grandmother took me to some special art classes. I really enjoyed this and learned a lot about color, textures, form, drawing people and animals and even creating the architectural drawing for a house I created. A teacher named Julie really helped me a lot. I even got to display some of my art in the local museum.
When I was still 7 I thought that I would like to have some of my art printed as note cards. With the help of my grandparents, that is exactly what I did. I now also sell prints, satin pictures, and magnets. Now I go to the Farmers' Markets and craft bizarres and sell my art creations. I have put many of the designs and pictures on the web site so that you may view them.
I have entered contests, fairs, even national contests for competition. I have really done well. both this year and last I won "Best of Show" at the fair in my age group. I even entered a contest against other adults for the poster for a local festival we have here. I have been interviewed by the local paper and another magazine and have had a chance to display some of my art in those publications. Currently I have been commissioned by two people to paint them a special painting.
My career ambitions are not solid yet but I think I would like to work in animation for some company like Pixar or Disney. I want to learn computer animation also. I look forward to seeing where my art will lead me. People tell me that I am an entrepreneur, since I am also learning the business end of this too.

This is how I sell my cards
This is me with my note cards at a Farmers' Market. I like to do this because I get to talk to lots of people and explain my art to them. I have even gotten a couple commissions to paint something for someone. I enjoy interacting with other kids and adults. Maybe what I am doing may inspire some other kid to be creative too.
Fishing at a lake
I went to a camp ground with my Grandparents. It was really nice to be out in nature, fishing, playing and hiking. Sometimes places like these give me ideas of pictures I might like to draw or paint. I carry a sketch book with me and jot down ideas or scenes.
